Parent Area

Getting Involved!

There are many ways in which parents take part in making our setting a welcoming and stimulating place for children and parents, such as:

  • exchanging knowledge about their children's needs, activities, interests and progress with staff.

  • contributing to the progress check at age two;

  • helping at sessions of the setting;

  • sharing their own special interests with the children;

  • helping to provide and look after the equipment and materials used in the children's play activities;

  • being part of the management committee through being the nominated parent representative;

  • taking part in events and informal discussions about the activities and curriculum provided by the setting;

  • joining in community activities, in which the setting takes part; and

  • building friendships with other parents in the setting.

Joining in

Parents can offer to take part in a session by sharing their own interests and skills with the children. We welcome parents to stay and play sessions, open days, fun days or just dropping into the setting to see it at work or to speak with Pre-school Leader. We hold short Services during the year where parents can enjoy watching and taking part with their child in singing and celebration of differing festivals.

Further information about joining in and parents as partners can be found both in our Prospectus and by talking to staff on site.

Parents and Carers as Partners

Within St Gabriel’s we value that Parents/Carers are the main educators of their child and have a very important role to play in our setting. By exchanging information about your child’s achievements, both at home and pre-school, help to build an accurate picture of their development and progress.
